Alan is a strategic planner with hands-on and management skills in land use, environmental and natural resource conservation, historic preservation and rehabilitation, real estate development, project management, team building and leadership, learning organizations, urban systems research, and creative problem solving. He is a highly successful grant writing, having raised over $50 million dollars in public grant funds.

His key skills are working with groups and the ability to accurately scope projects, manage conflicts, evaluate efforts, and lead action steps. His working approach uses balance, commitment, integrity, and respect. This blends with a commitment to integrating and strengthening healthy community relationships. Building synergy is his most foremost desire and skill.

Over the last six years Alan has been building a link between the concepts and practices of Sustainable Development and Learning Organizations.
